This dual illuminated National Geographic Journey Globe with simple, yet elegant base design is the perfect addition to any home or office. The beautiful 16 layer coloration of globe ball shows both physical and political features. Shows political borders when light is off, and physical features when illuminated. It has traditional National Geographic fonts and colors for superb readability and consistency with their award winning maps. It offers over 3500 place names which include continents, countries, cities, bodies of water, bathymetric ocean data, hand drawn physical relief, and a remarkably colorful display in 17 layers of color printing.
This Globe light up in vivid colors, often revealing additional geographic details not visible in standard globes. They also make good night lights. Most illuminated globes have a light fixture assembly that is mounted through the south pole on the globe ball. The fixture is specially designed to turn independently of the globe so that the globe can spin without twisting the cord. The electrical cord uses a standard 110 Volts plug and hangs loose from the bottom of the globe. Attached to the electrical cord is an inline dial type switch that allows you to turn the illumination on or off. It includes a signed and dated Certificate of Authenticity and an informative booklet. This is available in 12 and 14 inch diameters.
